How Women and Men Use the Internet

How Women and Men Use the Internet

Women are catching up to men in most measures of online life. Men like the internet for the experiences it offers, while women like it for the human connections it promotes

Summary of Findings

Shifting internet demographics: Women have caught up to men online.

Younger women and black women outpace their male peers. Older women lag dramatically.

The internet was dominated by men in its early days, but by 2000 and continuing on to
today, the user population has been evenly divided between men and women. Further, the
proportion of women online is nearly equal to that of men. A review of the findings of the
Pew Internet & American Life surveys between March 2000 and September 2005
highlights some particularly interesting trends and correlations: Young women are more
likely to be online than young men. And black women have surged online in the last
three years.

Pew Internet Project surveys between January and June in 2005 show that 67% of the
adult American population goes online, including 68% of men and 66% of women.

But women slightly outnumber men in the internet population because they make up
a greater share of the overall U.S. population.

Younger women are more likely than younger men to be online; older men are more
likely than older women to be online: 86% of women ages 18-29 are online,
compared with 80% of men that age. On the other hand, 34% of men 65 and older
use the internet, compared with 21% of women that age.

Black women are more likely than are black men to be online: 60% of black women
are internet users compared with 50% of black men.

Unmarried men are more likely than unmarried women to be internet users. 62% of
unmarried men compared with 56% of unmarried women go online. Married women
are slightly more likely than married men to be online. 75% of married women and
72% of married men go online.

Men without children under age 18 are more likely than women without children
under age 18 to be online. Some 61% of childless men compared with 57% of
childless women go online. Men and women with minor children are equally likely
to be online. Some 81% of men with children and 80% of women with children go
online.

This Pew Internet & American Life Project report is based on the findings of a variety of tracking surveys on Americans' use of the Internet between March 2000 and September 2005. All numerical data was gathered through telephone interviews conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates.

Joke: The parking

A little boy and girl where sitting in the sand pit naked. The little girl looks down at the boy and points to his penis and says "What's that?".

"I don't know" says the little boy. He to looks down at the little girl and asks "Whats that?"

"I don't know." says the little girl.

They both went home later on and the little girl says to her mum. "Mummy, whats this?"

The mother replies, "That's your pink gararge, and no red Ferrari is alowed to park in there."

The little boy gets home and goes up to his dad and says, "Daddy, whats this?"

The father replies "Why that's your red Ferrari and you can park it in as many pink garage's as you feel like."

The next day the little girl and boy were playing in the sand pit naked again and the little girl ask the little boy "Whats that?"

And the little boy says "This is my red Ferrari and I can park it in as many pink garages as I feel like." The little boy then asks the little girl.

"What's that?" and the little girl replies "This is my pink garage and no red Ferrari's are allowed to park in here."

Later on the little girl went home and her mother was shocked when she saw blood all over her hands.

"What happened?" asked her mum.

The little girl replied "A red Ferrari tried to park in my pink garage so I pulled it's back wheels off."

The works of Salvatore Dali

Hey y'all,

Here is an amazing PowerPoint presentation displaying the works of
Salvatore Dali which are quite amazing.

In the presentation, it makes reference to Celine Dion who sings the title
song (featured in the 1986 movie "Top G..un") where if my memory serves me
correct, is the band, "Berlin" of Orange county California USA and the
voice does sound like their lead singer, Terri Nunn. People may remember
that band with their 1983 hit club song, "S..ex (I'm a sl...)".

Click on the link below and discover for yourself

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~athatecj/Stuff/Dali.pps

This PowerPoint (PPT) clip with sound is kinda big (1.34MB) to send out as
an attachment especially for HotMail users so I've being considerate and
temporarily placed it off my homepage site for all you to see/hear and also
for those who are stuck with Proxy server connections at work or in a
Netcafe which only allow HTTP (WWW/Port 80) Internetwork traffic throughput
only.

This will give you a chance to save it if you so like it. I'll leave it up
a week or so for you all to see/save it.

Alternatively, you can click on my shortcut directory link of
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~athatecj/Stuff/ & pick the file you want by
"Right Click - Save Target" to anywhere you like.

Click the link below and wait a while (say 10, 15mins on dial-up!) for it
to download and play it in something like Media Player/MPlayer (Linux/UNIX)
etc.

If it doesn't work well the 1st time, try and play it again as it should
play from the buffered files on your PC or give me a holler as I might be
able to assist.

Usual issues I've encountered is unable to display the file due to a
CODEC. If Media Player prompts you, go online & download/install the codec
or let me know and I'll see if I can source some but let me know what
version of media player you're running.

Enjoy,

/Johnno :-)

The Phone Number

Hey y'all,

Here is a funny example how we pass out a phone number when we're flirting
(not that I'm recommending you do such things !!). Alternatively, you can
just go over to the table and show the lady "what u mean" LOL ;-)

This Windows Media Video (WMV) clip with sound is kinda big (1.55MB) to
