Panathinaikos adds Perperoglou from Kavala

Defending Euroleague champion Panathinaikos made its first signing for the new season by bringing in Stratos Perperoglou, one of the most talented and promising young players in Greece. Perperoglou (203, 23) signed a three-year deal with a team option for a fourth season. The small forward was born in Kavala and grew up with the local Athletic Club. Then he played for Iviskos Rhodes, Ilissiakos Athens and Panionios, where he spent three seasons. He helped Panionios reach the playoff semifinals last season, averaging 11.8 points making 42% of his three-pointers, plus 3.5 boards, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals.

As a member of the Greek national teams, Perperoglou won the bronze medals at the 2002 European Junior Championships and the 2003 World Junior Championships. This week he was invited by national team coach Panagiotis Giannaks to the pre-selection of the senior national tean for the first time with a shot to make the final roster at the upcoming European Championships in Spain.
