Legal proceedings have been started against the producers of the promotional video-clips for the Bulgarian film Baklava, in which orphans from a Bourgas orphanage participated, prosecutor Andrei Chervenyakov told Bulgarian news agency BTA.

Chervenyakov had signed the ordinance for the legal procedures on the morning of January 11, Dnevnik daily said.

Chervenyakov said they would first have to establish who was involved.

The legal proceedings were for violations of article 159, paragraph four and 192 A from the Penal Code.

The first text involved the production and distribution of pornographic material, Dnevnik daily said.
The film was shot in 2006. At the time, this violation was punishable with up to three years in jail and a fine of up to 5000 leva.
At the moment, the video-clips, in which children from an orphanage in Bourgas took part, were being distributed online, which was punishable with up to six years in jail and up to 8000 leva in fines.

The second text of the ordinance concerns hiring people under the age of 16 without required permission, which was punishable with up to one year in jail and up to 3000 leva in fines, Dnevnik daily said.

The legal proceedings were preceded by a two-day investigation by the prosecution, Chervenyakov said. He added he has ordered two more parallel investigations, from the mayor of the Bourgas municipality Dimitar Nikolov and from the police.

An order was sent out to limit access from outside to the Bourgas orphanage.

By law, the legal proceedings that started on January 11 have to be completed within two months, though the period could be extended with an additional four months if necessary, Chervenyakov said.
